Dragoncon 2008 Round Up - The Rest
Pete and Receptionist Triana were new, but these are all costumes I'd worn before. A couple of them do have new wigs which is almost like wearing a new costume without putting forth any effort whatsoever! Almost. Or not really. But still, wigs are yay!

Wonderful work! ^_^
love your work!
i would marry you!!!
Bit late. But the details you put in to your costumes are amazing!
On top of all that you are beautiful and seem to adopt the attitude of the characters you portray.
I hope to see your handy-work at a con in the future.
hi
just saw your illyria costume it's AMAZING!!!
i'm actually looking to make one and was wondering if you could provide details of yours?
Re: The Illyria costume.
Basically I bought a plain black unitard (round necked with a zipper in the back) and then sewed all the red parts on top of it. If you can, I'd try to find a stretch red snakeskin pleather so you can (hopefully) use a machine. I was using a non-stretch pleather on a stretchy unitard so I actually hand-sewed all those red parts onto the unitard while I was wearing it. Except for the back, which I did on a dress form. It was very annoying and involved many needle jabs to delicate parts.
The upside of pleather is it shouldn't be fraying or anything along the edges so I didn't have to hem it, I could just cut the shapes and leave the raw edges.
I did the painted parts after the red parts were on the unitard using fabric paints. Acrylics would also work, I think, but fabric paints are better if you plan to wear it more than once and don't want the paint flaking or washing off. And then the blue and silver parts I quilted with some batting before I sewed them on top of the red. For the gloves I made a fingerless black glove/gauntlet with a loop that went over my middle finger, and then sewed the silver part on top of the black. I wore black gloves underneath the gauntlet to cover my hands/fingers.
For the makeup I used a blue spray-on hairspray on my hair. I've seen the hair done with a wig too where colored extensions were attached down the center of the hairline. And then on my face I used some blue Krylon cream makeup. (I used three shades, a darker blue for the hairline, a sort of medium blue to blend out, and very light pastel blue for the veins.) For my eyes and lips I used a variety of blue pigments and eyeshadows.
It did involve a lot of pieces so it was pretty time consuming, but I don't think it requires really advanced sewing or anything. Definitely do-able. Especially if you buy the under layer/unitard already made. Good luck with it!
I came across this site while looking for a VB avatar for fb. All I can say is WOW! Very nice, very sexy, very skilled. Please keep up the pics lol!
